This Exhibition gave the Swiss public an opportunity to see a manuscript of Gogol’s lecture on Roman History, saved from fire by Nikolai Petrovich Pogodin, as well as manuscripts by Saltykov-Shchedrin, the first edition of “Boris Godunov” in French, the notebooks of Tolstoy and Dostoevsky, and the first edition of “Eugene Onegin” (1833), purchased in November 2008 at an auction at Christie’s in London.
Most of these exhibits are kept in St. Petersburg, in the Pushkin house, and this was the first time that they were shown outside Russia.
The exhibition attracted over five thousand visitors.
