After a successful first edition in 2015, Neva Foundation is organising on May, 19th the second super finale “Tous aux Echecs”, closing a full year of teaching chess within school time in the canton of Geneva, in collaboration with the Department of Education.
One thousand and one hundred children and their teachers are expected this year at the Pavillon sportif du Bout-du-Monde in Geneva: level Initiation I, regrouping 820 children of degree 4-5P, and level Initiation II, for 268 children of degree 6P who started learning chess in January 2015 already.
This chess festival, unique in size and format in Switzerland and Europe, will enable all children participating in our learning program to compete in a friendly and festive tournament, rewarding three categories: general, women and team rankings.
This year again, Vladimir Kramnik, sponsor of our program, former World chess champion and actual World number 2, will join and share his passion by playing a simultaneous exhibition against children chosen by drawing lots.
