The virtuoso pianist Denis Matsuev will perform once again on the stage of the Victoria Hall in Geneva on 30 September 2019, thanks to the support of the Neva Foundation. He will play Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Liszt.
Following his victory at the 11th Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow in 1998, Denis Matsuev quickly became one of the most renowned pianists of his generation. He performs worldwide with the world's leading orchestras and under the direction of the most distinguished conductors. This season, Denis Matsuev is invited by the Gewandhaus Leipzig and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Yuri Temirkanov, the New York Philharmonic, the Munchner Philharmoniker and the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev, among many others.
In recital, he performs in the most prestigious venues. He also participates in various international festivals, including those of Ravinia, Verbier, Lucerne, Salzburg, Aix-en-Provence, La Roque d'Anthéron, Stresa and Bucharest.
Denis Matsuev also leads educational projects. He is the president of the Russian charitable foundation New Names, which participates in the development of music education in the region of his childhood. He is also director of the Moscow Grand Piano Competition for young pianists and Astana Piano Passion.
Denis Matsuev has been the artistic director of the Rachmaninoff Foundation for several years. In 2021 he will take over the artistic direction of the Rachmaninoff Moscow Competition for pianists, composers and conductors.
