This was the first screening in Geneva of the last silent film in the history of Soviet Cinema, “The New Babylon”, made by Grigori Kozintsev and Leonid Trauberg in 1929. It was accompanied by music composed for the film by Shostakovich, in a live performance by the Geneva University Orchestra conducted by Gleb Skvortsov.
The event was organised as part of the annual Geneva Music Festival, “Fete de la Musique”.
