To the delight of connoisseurs, Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of the legendary Yuri Temirkanov will perform in Geneva together with the famous Russian pianist Nikolai Lugansky. This highly anticipated concert will take place on November 17, 2014 at Victoria Hall, thanks to the support of the Neva Foundation.
The evening will start with the Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor by Rachmaninoff, which is considered as one of the most technically challenging piano concertos. Composed in Russia in 1909, the concerto has since been performed by many renowned pianists who have had enough courage to take on the challenge and to show all their technical virtuosity and musical expression.
The Symphony No. 6 in B minor by Tchaikovsky, also known as Pathétique, will follow. This beautiful and touching piece of music was met with great appreciation after the composer's death, as he suddenly passed away just a few days after the first performance of the symphony.
In perfect symbiosis with Maestro Temirkanov, Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra will bring to life these two mythical pieces of music, which overwhelm listeners with emotions and melancholy.
