Verbier Festival 2018 and Chess by Neva at Verbier Festival
For its third year as one of the main sponsors, the Neva Foundation is delighted to bring a sporting touch to the prestigious 25th edition of the Verbier Festival which will take place from 19 July to 5 August 2018.
Like each year, the Neva Foundation will place special emphasis on talented youth. Promising musicians supported by the foundation will have the chance to participate in the very exclusive Verbier Festival Academy and Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra. This year, some twenty talents will benefit from this exceptional career springboard.
In parallel, from 26 to 30 July, the foundation will be offering a series of activities related to chess, as part of the Unlimited – the "off" programme of the Verbier Festival. Placed under the auspices of Vladimir Kramnik, former world champion currently ranked in the top 5, these activities are aimed at festival-goers as well as young and experienced musicians. They will be supervised by a professional, an International Grand Master of Chess, who will lead an initiation workshop and a tournament bringing together young musicians and festival-goers on 30 July. Vladimir Kramnik, who is also the ambassador of the Neva Foundation's chess education programme, will face the festival's stars on 26 July in an exceptional simultaneous game with live commentary. And on July 28, the former world No. 1 will meet with a performance psychologist for a public conversation that will attempt to shed light on the qualities required to achieve high performance.
